Thanksgiving BBQ Catering in Toronto and the GTA
Canadian Thanksgiving is Monday, October 12, 2026. In Toronto and the GTA, hosts are usually planning a family dinner on Sunday, October 11 or on the holiday itself, or a workplace lunch on Thursday, October 8 or Friday, October 9. Barbecue fits when you order it as that holiday meal: smoked turkey or a pulled meat, sides that belong on the table, and drop-off or staff to match the room.
Toronto BBQ Catering is a free matching service. We do not cook, we have no kitchen, and we do not sell packages. Tell us the date, headcount, menu and service style. We introduce you by email to an independent caterer, who quotes, cooks and serves. Request a match when the notes below are ready. Prices below are planning ranges. The caterer’s quote is what counts. See the price guide.
Which Thanksgiving meal you are booking
A Sunday supper at a house in Toronto is a different job from a Friday office lunch.
Family dinner on Sunday or Monday
Many families eat on Sunday so relatives can travel on Monday. Others keep dinner on October 12. Give the caterer the serving time, how many people will eat, children included, and whether food should arrive hot or wait in your oven. A family-style drop-off is the usual house plan. Ask about staff when the list is long. We match home meals through private and backyard BBQ catering.
A workplace lunch before the weekend
Office Thanksgiving lunches usually land on Thursday or Friday. Monday is the holiday. Drop-off suits a short lunch break. A staffed service suits a longer appreciation lunch. Include the floor, loading rules, and whether you have an oven or microwave. We match those through corporate BBQ catering.
A menu that still reads as Thanksgiving
Write “Thanksgiving” on the request so the BBQ catering match is planned as a dinner, and have the caterer confirm every dish.
Smoked turkey, and the sides around it
Ask if they smoke turkey as a whole bird, as breasts, or already sliced. A whole bird takes a long cook, so many caterers smoke it ahead and reheat it for your serving time. Confirm the arrival temperature, how long it should stay hot, and whether gravy or a cranberry-style sauce is included. Potatoes, macaroni and cheese, cornbread, green beans, coleslaw and baked beans travel well. Stuffing, squash and pumpkin pie are not on every barbecue menu. If a dish is missing, someone at home can bring it.
Pulled meats on a mixed table
Pulled pork, brisket or smoked chicken covers guests who skip turkey. Say how many people you expect on each meat. Pulled pork catering covers that choice on its own. Add halal, vegetarian and allergen notes in the same message. The caterer confirms what their kitchen can keep separate.
Drop-off, staffed service, or a live station
Pick one style before you compare quotes. Mid-October in Toronto is cool, and rain is common enough that an open deck needs a backup.
- Drop-off buffet. Ready-to-serve food. Your household or the office handles plates. The usual fit for a smaller family dinner or a weekday lunch.
- Full-service catering. Staff set up, serve and clear their station. A better fit when the headcount is high or the host should stay at the table.
- Live-fire BBQ station. Cooking or carving on the caterer’s equipment at the address, and only if that address already allows a flame or a smoker. Most Thanksgiving meals are simpler as food smoked off-site and delivered hot.
The yard-grill choice is set out in on-site grilling versus drop-off.
Questions to send the caterer
- Are you free that day, and do you staff Thanksgiving Monday?
- Is the meat smoked for this event, and does it arrive sliced or whole?
- Which sides are included, and which Thanksgiving dishes do you skip?
- What time is delivery, and how do we hold food if dinner is later?
- Are chafing dishes, utensils, plates and napkins included, and will you collect them?
- What is the guest minimum, and how late can the count change?
- How are leftovers packed?
- For an office, who is the contact, and how long is the drop-off?
A low per-person number is sometimes food only. Ask what staffing, travel, setup and rentals add.
Planning ranges hosts use in the GTA
We do not set prices. Caterers across Toronto and the GTA often quote a drop-off buffet at about $18 to $35 per person, full-service catering at about $35 to $90 per person, and a live-fire BBQ station at about $40 to $75 per person. Smoked turkey can sit toward the top of that style. Tax, travel, a small guest count or holiday staffing can move the number. These Canadian-dollar ranges are not a quote from us. The caterer’s quote is the price. See the price guide.
How a match works this week
You and an independent caterer share one email thread. They use your date, city, headcount, menu, dietary notes, budget and service style to quote, and they say whether the date is open. Ask us if you need a different introduction.
The week of October 12 is short notice for a large staffed dinner. A request in the first week of October may still find a smaller drop-off, and it may miss a Monday team that is already booked. Offer a second date if you can shift the meal by a day. Lead times for other weekends are in how far ahead to book BBQ catering in Toronto. Request a match with the checklist below. If you book, the caterer cooks and serves. We stay out of the kitchen.
Checklist before you send the request
- Serving slot: Sunday dinner, Monday dinner, or an earlier workplace lunch

- Smoked turkey or a pulled meat, the sides you want, and dessert if the caterer should bring it
- Dietary needs and allergens
- Drop-off, staffed service, or a live station
- A budget taken from the ranges above
- Who meets the delivery, and where the food can be held
FAQ
Can barbecue stand in for a traditional turkey dinner?
Ask for smoked turkey, and list gravy, cranberry and pie if the caterer should supply them. Those items are part of the order when the quote names them. If turkey is not on their menu, a pulled-meat spread can still feed the table, with stuffing or pie from home.
Is drop-off enough for a house of 12 to 20?
Often, when you can set the table and eat in one sitting. Ask for sliced meat and how long the food may sit out. Use staff when the count is higher or someone else should carve and clear.
Who cooks on Thanksgiving Day?
The caterer cooks. A staffed quote should say whether they clear their station. Drop-off leaves serving and the dishes with you. We are not at the venue. We make the introduction.
